Meet out BDTV Director--Mr. Dennis Goins
Dennis Joseph Goins grew up in a family of nine children in Rushville, Indiana where his father and mother stressed faith in God, family, education, and developing a tremendous work ethic. He received All-State honors in football and basketball where he earned athletic scholarships to attend Vincennes University and SIU-Carbondale to play college basketball. He later graduated from Ball State University and served 20 years as an award-winning photojournalist covering events from Hurricane Andrew to the Sydney, Australia Summer Olympics, even making a guest appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” Mr. Goins stepped out of the television industry by faith and created a television curriculum from scratch at the Ben Davis High School/Area 31 Career Center.
For many years, he has served as the Director of BDTV and the Performing Arts Department Chair, developing relationships, servant leadership, and student-scholars demonstrating amazing successes locally and globally. There are former BDTV students working in news stations, film production agencies, and corporate initiatives throughout the world. With his direction, Ben Davis Television (BDTV) has been consistently recognized in state, regional, and national and international competitions/achievements.
