August Students of the Month Announced

August Students of the Month Announced

Desron Beauchamp 10th grade Creating, Imagining, and Innovating: Here is what Rachel Brown said about Desron. " Dezy & Riley are a package deal. They would be the first to tell you about the other's class rank (#1 and #2) both with a look of pride on their faces as well as the acknowledgement of knowing how much work and effort they have each put into the achievement. Dezy and Rhylee are friends, but beyond that, they are a support network, offering each other a shoulder to lean on, a mind to brainstorm with, and generally, just a fabulous person who is bound and determined to make the most out of all opportunities. I am nominating the two of them for embodying the characteristics of "creating, imagining, and innovating" because those three verbs illustrate the way that these two sophomores are thinking about their time here at Ben Davis: they are creating themselves as serious students who are involved in academics, athletics, and school culture; they are imagining a future and taking the steps and putting in the hard work to get to that goal; they are innovating their habits in order to be the best students, classmates, friends, and teammates in order to make sure every day is a good day. In doing so, Dezy and Rhylee have transformed their perspectives. They are happy every day to face the challenges that await. These two are truly amazing Giants."

Ja'Zuria Willis 10th Listening with Understanding and Empathy: Here is what Lydia Finchum said about Ja'Zuria. "Ja'Zuria has one of the most positive attitudes I have ever seen in a student. She comes in daily and writes a positive thought of the day on my board to share with all of my classes. Often, these are thoughts that she has created herself or seen somewhere else on social media. For example, today's thought is "Give yourself some credit for the days you made it when you thought you couldn't." She has also started writing them down on notecards for me to hand to students that are having a rough day and she calls them JayBae's Motivation."
