February Students of the Month Announced
Each month Impact teachers can nominate a student who is demonstrating the Wayne Habits of Success. Each student selected receives a swag bag. Below are the winners and what their nominating teacher had to say about them.
Danielle Shumar–12th Grade
Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision: Here is what Tom Hayes had to say about Danielle. “Danielle is a senior editor in my newspaper class. She serves as our online editor this year. Danielle is an excellent writer who looks for interesting story lines on every assignment. She has never missed a deadline and looks for interesting people to interview. She is also responsible for updating our online news web site and she has taken on the added responsibility of writing stories for our yearbook. Danielle will be missed in this classroom.”
Trenton Sloan–10th Grade
Remaining Open to Continuous Learning: Here is what Patrick Van-Arsdale had to say about Trenton. “Trenton has started going the extra mile to improve his craft as a trumpet player. He has been staying after school and seeking out supplemental materials to be a better musician. I have been impressed with his independent learning and interest in learning more on the subject.”
Ronell Cardona–12th Grade
Listening with Understanding and Empathy: Here is what Jon Easter said about Ronnell. “Ronell is one of the most kind and caring students I’ve had in my time at Ben Davis. He is very considerate. He’s always asking how you are and doing things like gifting a drawing or making you feel good by leaving you a treat. Just today, he dropped off a pass for one of my students and he left me a piece of candy. He’s definitely one of our rock star students here at Ben Davis who is unapologetically himself in every way and still finds a way to make others feel appreciated and valued. I’d love to see Ronell get the student of the month because of the understanding and empathy for others he demonstrates.”
