September Students of the Month Announced
Photo of Maalik Ferguson-September Student of the Month

Maalik Ferguson 12th grade-Creating, Imagining, and Innovating: Here is what Ms. Britt and Miss Fritz had to say about Maalik. "Maalik has taken on a HUGE leadership role on our Unified Flag Football team. He jumped right into a new environment and immediately began creating friendships and setting a tone of equality amongst all the athletes. Because of his natural cool, calm and collected personality, he has instantly connected to our special education athletes. He has created an atmosphere on our team that makes everyone feel included and apart of the team! Maalik made a HUGE assist in one of our games that helped one of star Athletes, Gabe Bruder, score his first ever touchdown! He patiently helps the Unified players get into position on the field and is always looking to get the ball to players in order to get EVERYONE involved. His level of awareness and selflessness is helping to create such great moments and memories for the Unified Athletes. His impact is huge on these players and we enjoy the positivity he brings to each game/practice!"

Griffin Presler 10th grade-Persisting: Here is what Mr. Bearman had to say about Griffin. "Griffin was really struggling in Physics at the beginning of the school year. At the first progress report he was failing because of some missing assignments and other low grades. He has stayed after school with me several times and almost every study table working with Mr. Chad Kennedy to improve his grade. Griffin is now passing Physics with a B because of his hard work, focus, and persistence."

Lilliana Dawson 11th grade-Persisting: Here is what Zach Smith had to say about Lilliana. "Lilliana is one of my Credit Recovery students for World History. Freshman and Sophomore year did not go well for her, but she is determined to get her life back on track. She just got out of the hospital after hitting a 105 Degree fever, and immediately applied for and got a job at Fazoli's. She is blowing past all the requirements set in Credit Recovery to get her credit back while simultaneously striving to get her grades up in other classes. This at times comes with a lack of sleep or social life but she is pushing through. I am quite proud of her resilience as it is an example to those around her."
