August Students of the Month

August Students of the Month

Alona Williams 10th grade - Purposeful Collaborator:

A young girl in a pink shirt smiles in front of a red brick wall.

Here is what Cleo Kirkton said about Alona. "Alona is an excellent helper around the classroom. She is always looking for a way to help out her teachers, staff, and classmates. She is always working with others to help complete assignments by guiding or asking questions. Alona is an excellent collaborator in the classroom with ALL students. Alona is an enthusiastic, caring, and responsible student."

Salmatu Sannoh 12th grade - Purposeful Collaborator:

A young woman with voluminous afro puffs and a white off-the-shoulder shirt stands before a brown brick wall.

Here is what Gary Peters said about Salmatu. "Salmatu or "Salty" as she is known is a ray of sunshine in any setting. Salty brings the energy that all Giants should have. She is involved in the Senior Class as the VP. She has not only been in my IMPACT for the last 2.5 years; Salmatu is a leader on our academic spell bowl team. Ms. Sannoh collaborates with many groups throughout our school from the performing arts to our academic programs. All the while she is a pretty positive person. Giant sunrise, check mark; leading spell bowl practices, checkmark; prepping for an upcoming choir performance off-site, checkmark! Salty is setting a standard for the younger generation here at BD. For this month, Salmatu deserves to be recognized as a Student of the Month!"

Kaylee Finchum 12th grade - Adaptable Thinker:

A person wearing glasses, a white chef's hat, and a black jacket stands in front of a red brick wall.

Here is what Tom Hayes said about Kaylee. "Kaylee joined student media this year and has already displayed the ability to create stories and content that is relevant and interesting. She also helped put together a 16-page outline for our first print issue."
