Mikeal Gordon Joins Wayne Township School Board

Mikeal Gordon Joins Wayne Township School Board

The M.S.D. of Wayne Township School Board seated its newest member on Monday, December 15, 2025, as Mikeal Gordon was sworn into office at the School Board's regular meeting.

Gordon will complete the term left vacant by the November passing of School Board member Mike Nance, serving through December 31, 2026. In his remarks following the oath of office, Gordon acknowledged the significance of stepping into a role held by Nance for over three decades.

"I am honored to be able to fill a role that he had," Gordon said, noting Nance's faithful service to the community.

A familiar face in Wayne Township schools, Gordon has been an active volunteer throughout the district. He and his wife, MiChelle, are parents to children who have attended Wayne Township schools. MiChelle Gordon works as the secretary at McClelland Elementary School.

The family's connection to the district includes having a daughter who completed the THRIVE Program, which serves students with cognitive and developmental needs. This personal experience shapes Gordon's perspective on the School Board's work.

Gordon is employed as a purchasing manager at Newjac Industrial in Lebanon, Indiana.

The board accepted applications through November 30, 2025, and conducted public interviews with finalists in early December. Gordon was selected from qualified candidates and sworn in on Monday evening.

This appointment process followed Indiana Code 20-23-4-30, which requires school boards to fill vacancies within 30 days by majority vote of the remaining members.

Gordon emphasized his student-centered approach in accepting the appointment, stating that ultimate success depends on student achievement.
